Five minutes of checking before you pay can save a cancelled holiday. Here is exactly how to verify a Spanish tourist registration number.

Enter the regional tourism registration shown on the accommodation listing, exactly as it appears. If you enter a recognised national ESFCTU identifier, we’ll explain what type of number it is. Different registration types have different levels of public-data availability, so a “not found” result does not necessarily mean the accommodation is unregistered.

Step 1 — Find the registration number

On Airbnb it usually appears in the accommodation details or near the host information; on Booking.com it is often in the property description or the "house rules" area. Estate agents and private websites must display it too.

Step 2 — Copy the code exactly

Do not tidy the code up. Letters, digits and separators all matter. Our search accepts VUT/MA/39777, vut/ma/39777, VUT MA 39777 and VUT-MA-39777 and normalises them before matching.

Step 3 — Search the register

If the property is in Málaga province or on the Costa del Sol, search it in the box above. For other regions, use the official regional tourism register for that community.

Step 4 — Compare the record with the advert

Does the municipality in the record match the advertised location?
Is the category the same kind of accommodation you are booking?
Is the registered guest capacity at least the size of your party?
