How It Works

What happens when you check a Spanish holiday-rental licence number on this website, and how to read the result.

The search in six steps

  1. You enter a licence number. Copy it exactly as it appears in the rental advertisement, for example VUT/MA/39777.
  2. We normalise the number. Spacing, punctuation and capitalisation vary between adverts, so the number is converted to a standard form before it is compared. VUT/MA/39777, vut ma 39777 and VUT-MA-39777 are all treated as the same reference.
  3. We check the imported licence database. The search runs against the records we have imported from official sources and reviewed for publication.
  4. If a record is found, we display the public registration details we hold: registration type, municipality and province, registered guest capacity, registration and cancellation dates where published, the data source and when we last saw the record.
  5. Map locations are deliberately approximate. Where a map is shown it points to the centre of the municipality or locality, not to the property. We do not publish exact property coordinates or registered street addresses.
  6. Some records are marked as under review. That means the imported information is incomplete or inconsistent and we recommend further verification before relying on it.

What a not-found result means

A not-found result does not prove that a licence is invalid, inactive or unregistered. Coverage on this website is still being expanded, numbers are sometimes mistyped in adverts, and official registers change between our imports. Current coverage: holiday-rental registration records for Málaga province and the Costa del Sol, in Andalucía. Other provinces are not yet searchable here. Always confirm through the official regional register before acting on a not-found result — see data sources for details of the register we use.

What a found result does and does not tell you

A found result confirms that a matching registration appears in the data we hold. It does not confirm that the property is currently compliant with every legal, tax, safety or community requirement, that the advertised property is the registered property, or that the listing is genuine. Use it as one check among several.

Privacy

Searches are anonymous — you do not need an account and we do not ask who you are. We keep a basic log of the reference searched and technical information such as the approximate time and device type, so that we can monitor performance and prevent abuse. We do not publish holder names, registered addresses, contact details, identification numbers or cadastral references from the source data. Full detail is in our privacy policy.

Enter the regional tourism registration shown on the accommodation listing, exactly as it appears. If you enter a recognised national ESFCTU identifier, we’ll explain what type of number it is. Different registration types have different levels of public-data availability, so a “not found” result does not necessarily mean the accommodation is unregistered.
